Do your students realize our solar system does not “end” at the orbit of Neptune? But extends 100,000 AU’s from the sun!
Attached is a 5 slide Power Point Presentation to help students better understand the size of our solar system and where the smaller objects in our solar system typically orbit. This Power Point lays out where the following objects and locations are found in our Solar System – asteroids, the Asteroid Belt, plutoids, the Kuiper Belt, comets, and the Oort Cloud. The Power Point Presentation lays out those terms in that order. Print the first slide for your students to label and take notes on. The 5th slide is a picture of my notes and the information I discuss with my students as we go through the Presentation. My notes did not copy as well as I'd like. However, I hope they provide some help.
