PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This PARCC-style assessment merges informational and literary texts into a performance assessment. Students will construct an explanatory essay to justify their explanations. This task can be completed after reading Antigone or Julius Caesar. Students will analyze a quote from Niccolo Machiavelli's, "The Prince," read an current informational article, and draw parallels between the resources and Antigone or Julius Caesar. They will analyze an informational article and identify its main claim(s) and supporting details that reflect a similar theme in Antigone and Julius Caesar. They will construct an explanatory essay that develops their analysis of the theme "power and its misuses."
