Have you noticed how fast students respond negatively to a situation? Actually we all have the tendency to judge in about 11 seconds. Best way to redirect that negativity if we so choose is by asking a good question. What's a bad question? Listen to students and you'll hear things like "What else could go wrong?" "Why does everything always happen to me? "What's wrong with me" and many more.
The concept of asking a better question came from my training with Tony Robbins and was one of the many positive concepts taught in the Strategies for Success program at my school. Asking students "What else could it mean? " or "What's good about this?" gives them a chance to see the other side of a situation and the ability to head off stressful moments before they become big problems.
