Product Description
What a great time I had with this lesson!

* The lesson begins with a brief discussion as to the meaning of "Volume" and the relationship volume has to Geometric Solids.

* It then progresses to volume measurement; two dimensions vs three dimensions

* Students learn the difference between a Polyhedron Solid and a Polyhedron that does not qualify as a solid.

* Students learn to identify the various parts of cylinders and prisms.

* Students learn to understand and identify "regular", "convex" and "concave" Polyhedrons.

* Students learn the formulas to calculate the volume of cylinders and prisms.

* Students review basic formulas they may encounter and need to call upon when finding the volume of a cylinder or prism.

* Students learn to identify and use an "apothem" in calculating volume of some regular polygons.

* Students are introduced to Cavalieri's Principle

* Students learn to find the volume of Oblique cylinders and prisms.

* Students are introduced to Euler's Formula and use this clever little formula to determine the number of vertices and/or faces on a geometric solid.

* This lesson is aligned with CCSS

* I have included a "Follow-up Assessment" to determine student understanding of presented concepts.

* Included in the lesson are GUIDED NOTES for student convenience in following along with the presentation and recording valued information. These notes are beneficial to students for future review in preparation for quizzes, tests, and final exams.
