What is a fossil fuel?

What is the difference between coal and petroleum? Which one is deposited from a swamp and which one is deposited due to phytoplankton in the ocean?

What are oil traps and reservoirs? How are they important in our society?

This is a PowerPoint presentation that covers how nonrenewable resources such as peat, coal, lignate, petroleum, etc. are formed. Petroleum is a really important resource in our society. This presentation will give students a good background into the formation from the beginning to reservoirs. There are many good pictures so students can visualize what each type of resource looks like.

This presentation is fairly in-depth. I wrote it with my AP Environmental Science students in mind but I think about geology or earth science student be able to comprehend the given ideas.
