This is a PowerPoint for the lesson plan titled "A Portrait of America".
Not only is "The Freedom Painting" an excellent visual aid for the First Amendment, it provides a beautiful representation of Diversity in America. After all, the constitution is for ALL the people.
While the lesson plan is probably best suited for the middle grades, all ages will engage with great discussions about the painting, its people and its symbolism.
The lesson uses the painting "Freedom - Liberty Lighting Our Way" to illustrate the ethnic, religious and cultural diversity that makes up America. The presentation is part of the larger lesson plan for The Freedom Painting which includes an additional lesson plan for the First Amendment along with several worksheets. A larger image of the painting can be found at freedom.mattersmost.com. A large pre printed poster is also available along with the full lesson plan for both Diversity and the First Amendment is also available here on TPT under the title "The Freedom Painting"
