This richly illustrated 17-slide PowerPoint reveals the wonder and beauty behind the variations in animal coat patterns. Animals exhibit a variety of bodily colorations and patterns or markings. Some are useful as camouflage and others are useful as visual warnings that the bearer may be dangerous in non-obvious way. We'll briefly look at two biologists, Alan Turing (1919 - 1954) and Edward Bagnall Poulton (1856 - 1943) who both contributed greatly to the mathematics and science behind animal coat patterns.
