Who doesn't love pancakes? And what is better than pancakes?? Pancake Proportions! This activity allows students to use math in a real-world way in order to make pancakes to feed their class!
This lesson is intended to teach how to find equivalent proportions using tables and graphs while also determining the independent and dependent quantities. Students should already know what a ratio and rate are before this lesson. You can teach proportions and dependent and independent quantities throughout this lesson. I have also included an exit slip to be used before the end of class. Students should complete the exit slip independently.
This would be an awesome way for you to invite parents into the classroom to help cook pancakes while the students are learning math!
Download comes with:
4 page handout for students, with guided instruction, practice problems with tables and graphs, as well as, open-ended word problems
Pancakes are not included :)
