This prefix unit is designed to introduce common prefixes to students. It includes the prefixes re-, un- dis-, in-, and pre-.
This unit includes five prefix cards, which contain the prefix along with the meaning of the prefix. These can be enlarged to create posters or can be copied and cut out to place in reading journals/binders.
It also includes a prefix matching game in which students can play individually or with a partner/small group. This game includes 15 words with prefixes and students must match them with the meaning of the word. It can be played in memory style or as a simple matching game. You could also have students glue in words with matching meanings into their reading journals as they learn each prefix. This game also includes student directions and an answer sheet for students to check their answers.
There are also two worksheets included that can be used for pre-assessment, practice, or assessment at the end of your prefix unit.
I hope these prefix resources can help supplement your prefix lessons!
