I love PowerPoint for helping me plan out my lessons and organizing the materials I present to my students. I also love the ability to use the custom animation feature to act as a timer in my PowerPoints, keeping me, my lesson, and my students on track.
These slides were created to organize all the most frequently used timer needs into one place. Now, each time you want to add a visual timer to a slide for you or your students, just copy and paste from this file. Instructions for moving it around on your slide are included. If you are searching for a timer to help you keep your class on track or to serve as a visual timer for you and your students, this is the product for you.
This collection of timers all display a row of fifteen owls. They include fifteen, twenty, thirty, forty-five, and sixty seconds. Also included are 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9.10, 11, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, and 60 minutes.
How the timers work— A text box stating the length of time will appear on your slide along with your content. Once you press page-down, space bar, or mouse click, the area below the text box will begin to fill with a row of fifteen cute little owls. When the row is complete, the time is up and a new text box will spiral in to silently display that fact (you can easily change the wording in that text box). I have included my “Transition to Reading Groups” slide with the fifteen second timer as an example of how I use these timers.
