Do you want to help your students become more fluent readers? I used these PowerPoints with my students for about 5 to 10 minutes daily and saw a significant difference in reading fluency! Give them a try to help your students! They can be used whole class, in small groups, or in workstations.
The Phonics Drill files are Powerpoint Presentations that will help your students with phonics, phonemic awareness, and nonsense words. They are designed to flash individual sounds followed by the whole word. As the letter flashes, teachers should have students say each sound individually and then blend the whole word when it appears on the screen. Through repetition, students will soon know what is expected through this daily drill practice. This activity will help students decode words by sounds and then put them together to show the part to whole relationship between letters, sounds, and whole words. I use them daily in my classroom whole class and in small intervention groups. I have also used this activity with peer tutoring. They can be used on any interactive white board or on any computer.
