These slides cover the important events that led up to the American Revolution, including the taxes imposed by the British, and the rejection of these taxes by the colonists. Important terms/people in these slides include the Stamp Act, Quartering Acts, Intolerable Acts, Boston Massacre, Boston Tea Party, Sons of Liberty, Patrick Henry. The content does not include the actual American Revolution, but the British practices and policies at the time and the general growing sentiment of rejection, rebellion, and independence that the colonists were feeling at the time. Obviously this content should be used as a precursor to a unit on the American Revolution. It can be taught as 1-2 class periods of notes only, or I prefer to split it into 2 or 3 class periods and take time to discuss and/or research further about these events.
