Use this worksheet to help students to master the present progressive. It starts with an explanation with examples of how to use it with "estar." The exercises progress from easier to more difficult. The worksheet has four sections with five sentences each:
-Sentences with a subject, conjugation of "estar" and then a blank for students to insert the present progressive of the given verb. For example: Tú estás _______ (tocar) la guitarra.
-Sentences with a subject and a blank for students to insert the correct conjugation of "estar" and the present progressive of the given verb. For example: Luisa _______ (correr) en el parque.
-Sentences in English that students have to translate into Spanish. For example: I am sharing.
-Infinitive verbs that students have to use as the present progressive in original sentences. For example: Comprender:
This worksheet uses common verbs that most Spanish 1 students should know by the time they're at this point in their language study. The sentences are very simple so that kids can focus on the present progressive form. I mix it up with -ar and -er/-ir verbs. This skill comes in Realidades 6B, but this worksheet would work for students regardless of the curriculum you're using. I haven't included any irregulars.
