Product Description
This 273 page manual, “Practical Pronunciation & Everyday Communication in English,” written by the author of “Pronunciation and Communication: Oral Skills for Speakers of English as a Second Language,” Norma Landa Flores, has been developed with the specific purpose of meeting the needs of ESL Speech Communication students to Read, Listen, Speak, Interact and Pronounce using Standard American English in a clear, appropriate and functional manner, in order to avoid misunderstandings.

The curriculum has been developed to better prepare high school, adult school, vocational and community college students for advanced studies or for the modern workforce. Most U.S. State School Officials agree that the student’s comprehension of communication will be tested on his/her ability to listen, ability to read, and ability to write American English. Speaking clearly and verbally interacting with others in a mutually shared oral communication situation is not yet established as a crucial standard to measure American English speaking competence.

This, “Practical Pronunciation & Everyday Communication in English,” self-improvement guidebook is the second manual, in a series of 4 written by Norma Landa Flores, to address that specific issue. “Practical Pronunciation & Everyday Communication in English,” is 273 pages long and is divided into 11 chapters focusing on:

These forms were developed with criteria established by the National Communication Association’s Standards for Speaking & Listening in mind and are based on individual behavioral demonstration, therefore are objective and biased-free.

The Appendix, pages 257- 273, provides suggested methods for students to initiate their own Everyday Phrases & Improving their own Practical Pronunciation & Communication Interactions. Teachers/Tutors can follow these suggestions to facilitate ESL student learning and to provide ESL students with Pronunciation Competency Feedback.
