WORD OF MOUSE Vocabulary Lists:
To familiarize students (grades 4-7) who are reading Word of Mouse with some challenging vocabulary, I have created 12 lists of challenging words that appear in each reading selection (which consists of about 25 pages). I encourage teachers to use these lists in any way they feel suitable so that students can become familiar with the words before they read (or listen to) each section of the book.
Included after each set of vocabulary lists/definitions are masters that can be used to create cards for student games such as "Concentration" where students create matches of the words with their definitions.

WORD OF MOUSE…in a Nutshell:
Word of Mouse, by James Patterson & Chris Grabenstein, makes a great read-aloud for the classroom and is enthusiastically enjoyed by boys and girls alike. The main character, Isaiah, is an electric blue mouse that spouts words of wisdom much like the precepts to live by found in the beloved book, Wonder. Full of charisma and action, this mouse can inspire not only his fellow mice, but also whole classrooms of middle grade students. His adventures will thrill students and keep them on the edge of their seats. If you are looking for a fun book to read to your class that will challenge them with new vocabulary and inspire them to be the best they can be, do them a big favor and choose this!
Appropriate listening for all levels; reading level is 5th grade.
Available in hardcover, paperback, & audio for purchase and for rent or from the library.
