Due to the language struggles that many students who are deaf experience, they come to my classroom with gaps in their skills.
An assignment given on a particular grade level does not necessarily help my students. Even if they have the grammar skills necessary to complete the task, they may not have the background knowledge to follow the story. Even if they have the background knowledge and the grammar skills necessary to complete the task, they may not have the social interaction knowledge to understand causes and effects within a text.
Our school has a subscription to iXL.com. This assignment sheet given to the student allows the student to practice a skill without being limited by "grade level".
As I keep trying to do the best I can for my students, I make products that could possibly be useful to another teacher of the deaf. This one focuses on adjectives across many grade levels.
The assignment sheet is a Word document, and I've tried to make sure that it is fully editable. This document is 4 pages, but each page looks exactly the same. I go into my printer's settings and print 2 "pages" on one piece of paper, hopefully saving some trees, but that is not necessary.
Any changes that you need to make that will benefit the student, please feel free. We have enough stressors trying to break down special education, let's work together! I hope this helps!
