This activity is to help students learn the symbols, what the numbers like the atomic number represents, how to calculate the number of protons, electrons and neutrons. It also reinforces the area of the table where metals are located and non metals are located. It is meant to help students learn the table, not memorize it. I have used this when introducing the Periodic Table to 9th graders. This activity does require students to understand rounding in calculating the number of neutrons.
