Practicing Classroom Procedures Through Writing Activities - Have students demonstrate their understanding of classroom procedures in a fun and different way.
Students read some short passages where the main character clearly does not follow classroom procedures. After reading the story, students have to rewrite it, having the main character instead follow correct classroom procedures.
The short reading passages cover the following classroom procedures:
-asking to use the restroom
-finishing work early/doing your best work
-walking in the hallway
Students also will write their own story of a student using incorrect procedures, and then rewrite that story with correct procedures (or having a partner rewrite it).
A grading rubric is provided for easy grading.
These activities can be used the first week of school after students have been introduced to your classroom procedures. Or, you could use these writing activities throughout the school year as a review of classroom procedures.
