Kindergarten Reading Interventions, Letter Names:
I created this book after reading Jan Richardson’s, The Next Step to Guided Reading. In it, she recommends that children who know less than 40 letters spend time daily in a letter tracing book in order to learn the names of the letters and a matching picture word as quickly as possible. The process for using this book is as follows:
1. Student traces upper case letter and simultaneously says the name.
2. Repeat step for lower case letter.
3. Student points at the picture and say the name.
Ex. A, a, apple, B, b, bear, etc.
Included are two versions of the book (color and BW), and a letter assessment form for upper and lower case letters.
