Adoration/Thanks: You are awesome! (praise)
Confession: I’m sorry
Supplication: Lord please help… (list prayer requests)
Start by giving thanks and praise. Taking time to acknowledge what God has done for you is key to your relationship. It will bring you encouragement as you begin to take your eyes off of your troubles, and look at your blessings, giving thanks in the process.
Forgiveness. Ask the Lord to show you your sin. It is so easy to skip this part, and be blind to your own weaknesses. Work on humility as you allow Him to dig deep and change your heart.
Prayer requests. The back page of this book has space for ongoing prayer requests. The “On My Heart Today” section is for your personal needs, and requests that you are looking for help with each day.
Lifting up: This line is a place to fill in with family members, friends, your workplace, your church, your country etc. Fill it in advance so you remember to pray for them even when they don't have a pressing need.
Scripture reading: Before you begin, pray. Ask God to open your heart and reveal Himself to you through his word. Start with a chapter, or section. Write notes on the main events of the passage. Think about what you have read. How does this passage apply to you today? What have you learned? Write these thoughts in the “What you showed me section.”
Key Verse: If there is a verse that sticks out, write it here.
What to read? If you are new to bible study, start with a Gospel; Matthew, Mark, Luke or John. It is a good idea to switch back and forth from the Old Testament to the New. Read Matthew, then Genesis, and so forth.
Lastly, don’t get discouraged! God loves you whether you are diligent or not. Guilt for forgetting your bible study time is not from Jesus. But I can promise you, when you are ready, He will be waiting!
May God bless you on your journey as you grow closer to Him!
