Product Description
These pre-algebra team challenges require speed, knowledge, teamwork and strategy! This particular challenge focuses on Order of Operations.

The class will be given access to 30 OOO questions that are scored based on their levels of difficulty. Level 1 questions are worth 1 point each, level 2 questions are worth 2 points each, and level 3 questions are worth 5 points each (or 3 points if a hint is given). Teams will have to strategize and work efficiently to outscore their opponents and win the challenge. A full list of game rules is included in this package.

If you would rather use these challenge cards to test students one-on-one, I have included a link to the Boom Learning digital cards in the main document. Students will flip through each card and type in the answers as they go. The cards are self-grading, so students will know in real time whether or not they have answered all parts of a question correctly.

Boom cards play on modern browsers (released in the last three years) or interactive whiteboards, computers and tablets. Boom Cards apps are also available. Not sure your browser is modern enough? Try a free Boom Cards deck first (or click the link in my preview file!).

When you redeem your purchase, Boom Learning opens an account for you if you do not already have one. For TpT customers new to Boom Cards, Boom Learning will give you, for one year, a free account that lets you track student progress for up to 80 students.

At the end of that year, you may renew or choose not to renew. If you do not renew, you WILL still be able to continue using Boom Cards with the Fast Play feature. Fast Play does not track individual progress.

This full purchased package includes:
1. A list of suggested game rules.
2. 30 "challenge cards" (paper and digital versions) that each display an OOO problem. 10 of these cards are considered level 1 (beginner), 10 are level 2 (intermediate), and 10 are level 3 (expert).
3. A full answer key for the challenge cards.
4. Hints for each of the level 3 questions.
5. Optional answer cutouts for each of the 30 questions. To make this activity a little bit easier for students, you can give each team a copy of these cutouts so that they have answer choices to guide them to the correct answers. They are attached in "cutout" form in case you would rather have students cut and tape the answers to the challenge cards than write the answers on laminated cards using dry erase markers. To accomplish this for the level 3 questions, students will have to cut out individual operations (+. -, x, etc.) and tape them in between the appropriate numbers. Cutouts of all of the necessary operations were also included in this package.
6. A font agreement from Kevin Richey, creator of the "mostly mono" font used in the documents.

Enjoy my Order of Operations team challenge and please keep my store in mind for other hands-on STEM activities!
