This project is great for an end-of-year review in Pre-Algebra. It is a way for the students to review all of the main topics in the curriculum (done by filling out the Topics Chart) and then review each topic, as a class, in a fun student-led manner (playing the games they've created!)
I suggest making an overhead of the Topics Chart and filling it out together, so as the teacher you know the students have the correct details of each part of the curriculum and correct examples. I had my students work for about 20 minutes on their own, filling out what they could in the Topics Chart, and then we finished them up together as a class. They were able to choose their topic for their game, but no groups could do the same topic. The students had a lot of fun with this project. As the teacher, I like it because it reviews everything we did all year! This lesson plan can be modified to be completed with any math level, just create your own Topics Chart according to that class's curriculum. The chart I provide is for Pre-Algebra. I have some blank spaces at the bottom of the chart in case you want to add any other topics of your own.
