Description

This is a series of three printable non-fiction books to introduce beginning readers to the alphabet and color words, using photographs to illustrate letters and colors (you can download each of these three titles for free in my store or purchase the whole set for $.50 or as part of the Kindergarten Bundle). While there are other downloadable texts available to introduce the alphabet and color words to students, these texts are unique in the use of photographs to illustrate each letter and color.

This group of titles precedes the Decodable Non-Fiction sets of booklets which focus on short vowels (Books 1-6): https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Decodable-Non-Fiction-Short-Vowel-Books-1-6-4503189), consonant blends (Books 7-11): https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Decodable-Non-Fiction-Consonant-Blends-Books-7-11-4517745, and long vowels with magic/silent e (Books 12-15): https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Decodable-Non-Fiction-Long-Vowels-with-Magic-E-Books-12-15-5049974.

The three titles in this series include the following:
· Alphabet Animals A to M, with pictures of animals that start with each letter of the first half of the alphabet
· Alphabet Animals N to Z, with pictures of animals that start with each letter of the last half of the alphabet
· Colors in Our World, with pictures of animals and objects to match each of the major color words

Each book can be printed in a single-sided version or two-sided version (instructions are included with each text). Because these books contain actual photos, rather than drawings, they can be suitable both for elementary students and for teens and adults learning to read in English.

Most state standards include a focus on reading informational text, even in kindergarten and first grade, but finding materials that are suitable for emerging readers can be challenging. These non-fiction pre-decodable texts are designed to help fill this gap.
