Pre-Primer Memory Card Game
Sight words can be hard to commit to memory, but so important for children as they enter the pre-reading and early reading stages. I created this little memory game to help the children in my class become more familiar with these words. To keep things moving during the school year, and give the kiddos as many opportunities as possible to succeed I copied this game in several different colors.
Ideas for play:
*Traditional Matching Game. *Hide one set of cards around the room, then let the kiddos find the match. * Pass out the cards at circle time. Ask one child to come up front and read the letters aloud. The seated children look at their card. If there is a match, the seated child now comes forward to pick a new card and find the match. * Pass out the cards at circle. Set a timer and let the kiddos find out which friend has a match.
How to Play:
Print this packet. Trim the cards and laminate for durability. You are set to play! It would be fun to print these words on colored paper, or use scrapbook paper to make the back of the card looking cool, or fancy! You are only limited by your own creativity.
Thank you and have fun learning!
