This book is a great pre-printing practice for Pre-K - 1st Grade, including special education. It is a great handwriting starting point for preschoolers, but also a good practice for first graders. It contains 51 finish-the-picture activity pages that develop fine motor skills, improve hand/eye coordination and strengthen pencil control. Following the finish-the-picture pages, where the kids learn all the necessary strokes for printing, are 9 pages of the alphabet printing practice.
This book is great for both the art or writing center!
Letters are constructed out of various strokes. Each activity page
is designed to focus on certain stroke separately. It is repeated
multiple times on one page, or even pages to get sufficient practice.
The children draw missing parts of the pictures using same strokes
that are used when printing letters. After the missing parts are filled in,
they can color the picture as any coloring page.
The strokes get more complicated as the children progress in the book.
At the end of the book, the children will be able to print all of the upper
case and the lower case letters of the alphabet.
Please, encourage your children to draw from top to bottom and from
left to right to mimic the process of handwriting.
Pencil or thin colored pencils are preferred for these activities, because
they improve proper pencil grip and control.
Neither crayons nor markers are recommended.
