This material has been developed to tutor kids in dual program who were slow in beginning to read. It has been proven useful with kids in first, who were still struggling with reading. Great things about this material are that:
• Students were not intimidated by the challenge, because the task itself was easy (just matching pieces that look the same).
• They gained confidence when they realized they were able to match the words to the correct part of the puzzle.
• After the exercise of matching the words, they were asked for a minimal reading response. They were less anxious because they had already played with these words. They knew they could do it.
• These puzzles have been ordered according to difficulty.
