Ideal for non-fiction text, this pre-reading organizer activates students' prior knowledge of the topic they will read about. This organizer invites students to think about vocabulary words that may come in the text before they read, therefore increasing the likelihood of understanding some of the key vocabulary words that will indeed be included in the text. Students demonstrate knowledge by illustrating and using new vocabulary words in sentences.
