As a prerequisite to learning to read children need to appreciate the differences and similarities in shapes and sounds. This first set of pre-reading worksheets concentrates of shapes. Each worksheet has six exercises dealing with one type of difference or similarity.
There are 10 worksheets in which the children to pick the drawing that is different from the others in the exercise.
Another four worksheets requires picking the one facing the same way as the first one. Five have one facing a different direction from the others. Six have one figure a different size from the others. Six have a drawing with parts missing. Four have one image that is a different type from the others. Two require picking the drawing of something that is not alive. Three other single sheets look at facing same way, fastest and slowest.
Children can be exposed to a number of words through the teacher’s explanations.
The worksheets images are all line art or greyscale which not only saves on colored ink but also provides opportunity for fine motor practice by providing outline images for the children to color.
