Pre-reading activity for the short story "El niño al que se le murió el amigo" written by Spanish author, Ana María Matute. I usually have students discuss each question with a partner or a group of three then they share with the class their responses. Great activity to do prior to reading the short story. This will help them identify that the toys in the story are a symbol of childhood and when the boy throws the toys away, it shows that he has lost his childhood. I recommend the story for Spanish 3 and 4, Spanish AP and Spanish for native speakers.
