This re-usable “Pre-writing Tracing Workbook” includes the research based pre-writing strokes needed for letter writing.
Pre-writing strokes include:
l, --, O, +, square, /, \, X, and triangle.
While practicing pre-writing, students will also be learning associations (things that go together) for different categories including: vehicles, foods, characters, holidays, sports, animal babies and mothers, outdoor activities, and seasons.
Print in color or black and white for worksheets, or put in page protectors for repeated use. Students use a dry erase marker to trace when in a page protector.
*TIP- After putting the pages in a page protector, use Puffy Paint to trace the inner and outer edges of the pre-writing shapes. This provides boundaries for writing and ensures that students don’t go outside of the lines. The marker will stay inside of the boundaries. This is a great way to promote independence for even the earliest learners.
