Ahh, those first few weeks of Pre-Kindergarten P.E.. Not only is it a critical time to establish the groundwork and rules, but it sets the tone for the rest of the year. This can be especially challenging when you are a new physical educator or starting fresh at a new district.
I understand these challenges and I want to help! I created this Introduction to Physical Education unit, the August installment of my year-round PE lessons for PreK and Head start programs to do just that: establish the class rules and groundwork.
Children Learn a lot through play, and by introducing them to physical education you are playing a vital role in helping them build social skills such as sharing, taking turns leading and compromising. Best way is to keep things simple focus on fundamental skills and have fun!
To help acclimate your students to the rules and expectations, I’ve designed some engaging games and activities that will get them excited about PE class.
When you purchase this unit, you get a complete 30-minute lesson plan for each of the four weeks, along with equipment and materials prep, task cards, and teaching suggestions! As an added bonus, I’m including my fun and colorful PE Rules Poster
Here’s what you can expect:
Week 1 - Home Spots
Week 2 - Intro to PE Games for Listening and Saftey
Week 3 - Intro to PE Games for Following Directions
Week 4 - intro to PE Games for All Rules
Bonus - 1 PE Rules Poster
My approach to teaching is as follows:
-A progression that builds from one lesson to the next
-All needed materials to set up and teach are included
-Links to all digital resources referenced
-Clear and easy to follow Teacher instructions
-Diagrams for equipment set up
-What you need to prep for each lesson prior to students arrival
-A print and play month-long unit designed specifically for this age
With this unit, you will not have to guess or search the internet to try to figure out what to do. You will have everything you need to get up and go, allow the students to enjoy and learn at an appropriate pace and manner for their age, and have something that is student tested and teacher approved.
