With this activity, students will mix around the room finding others who can help them practice identifying and labeling predicate nominates and adjectives. Included are two versions of two Find Someone Who worksheets with answer keys.
Find Someone Who Instructions:
-Students walk around the room, keeping a hand raised until they find a partner.
-In pairs, Partner A asks a question from the worksheet; Partner B answers it.
-Partner A records the answer on his or her own worksheet.
-Partner B checks and initials the answer.
-Partner B asks a question, and Partner A responds.
-Partner B records the answer on his or her own worksheet.
-Partner A checks and initials the answer.
-Partners thank each other, part, and raise a hand again as they search for a new partner.
-Students repeat the process again.
-When the worksheet is completed, students return to their seats. As they are seated, other students may approach them for answers.
-Once all students have completed the worksheet, they may compare answers in small groups or pairs.
Add a Twist!
If you wish to add a bit more rigor to the activity, opt to use the “With a Twist” version.
-Before beginning the activity, let students know that you are going to add a personal challenge.
-Each student must write his/her initials on his/her own page when he/she answers the corresponding question on a peer’s page.
-Students should set a personal goal of answering as many different questions on peer’s papers as possible.
-This twist provides some differentiation for students and offers an opportunity for intrinsic motivation.
