Description
Description: Students estimate the likelihood of experiences and events happening in their life or the lives of others. Students then record the actual probabilities in fraction and decimal form and see how close they got.
Common Core Standard: 7.SP.5 (and others)
Materials: Small white boards or sticky notes (optional)
Student Learning Goals:
(1) Students will be able to predict the likelihood of events happening using rational numbers between 0 and 1 accurately.
PDF Download includes Lesson Plan, Student Guide, & Student Journal Page (see images).

CCSS7.SP.C.5
Understand that the probability of a chance event is a number between 0 and 1 that expresses the likelihood of the event occurring. Larger numbers indicate greater likelihood. A probability near 0 indicates an unlikely event, a probability around 1/2 indicates an event that is neither unlikely nor likely, and a probability near 1 indicates a likely event.
