This lesson introduces students to the prediction reading comprehension strategy to help them make sense of the book, The Mitten, adapted by Jan Brett. They will also have the opportunity to retell the story using sequencing, which will help them remember events of the story from beginning to end.
The scripted lesson includes pre-reading, reading, and post-reading, exploration and closure questions; 2 songs and 4 centers: drama, antonyms, sequencing, and retelling. Students can also create their own classroom story following The Mitten's story format.
The packets includes a mitten template and student worksheets. Adaptations are included for hearing, visual, ELL, and gifted students.
