What educators are saying
I really like how these comic strips can be used in a variety of different grades! You can make them more challenging or alter it to keep it simple !
A great resource, specifically, for some of my students who love art, but hate to write. This made it far more enjoyable.
Description
This product is designed to help students improve their reading comprehension skills by practicing how to make clue-based predictions.
Within this product there are 20 comics. Each of the comics provides an opportunity for students to make a prediction. All the comics have 5 slides. The first 3 slides have already been created, so the students need to observe the first 3 slides, decipher the key details, and then predict what will happen in the last 2 slides. Once the students have created a plausible prediction, they can draw the last 2 slides of the comic. The comics were purposely designed in black and white so that the students can color them.
These comics were designed to be used in 3 ways:
1. As a literacy center where students work through the comic strips independently
2. As a small group discussion during a targeted mini lesson
3. As a whole class, where one comic is copied multiple times, students are placed into small groups, and each small group completes a version of the comic. After everyone has completed their comic, each group shares their version in front of the class. This particular activity provides a great opportunity to discuss why every prediction does not have to be identical.
This 28 page product includes:
• An overview
• A teacher modeling example
• A student direction sheet
• 20 comics
• An answer key
• An acknowledgment page
