Prediction Task Cards – Practice with Scenarios

Grade Levels
Formats Included
PDF (1 MB|10 pages)

This is a free packet of ten scenario task cards that give students a short situation and then ask them to predict what might happen based on the clues written in the scenario. Through these ten scenarios, students will have the opportunity to strengthen their ability to collect clues and make predictions. After each scenario, there are two questions that ask the students to predict the next event and to share what clues led them to their prediction.

There are 4 ways these cards can be used:

1. As a write-the-room activity where students travel around the room reading each scenario card, write their own prediction, and then everyone can share their predictions during the follow-up class discussion.

2. In small groups where the teacher can use the cards to guide a mini lesson.

3. As a homework assignment where the sheets are not cut into separate cards but rather left as a whole sheet and one sheet is sent home for extra reading skills practice.

4. As a center activity where students can work through the scenario task cards independently.

This packet includes:
• Cover page
• Instructional page
• 10 scenario task cards
