A list of prefixes I use with my 5th and 6th grade students formatted as a study foldable. I also use it with my high school students with lower English vocabularies. My students love learning stems in this method.
Fold in half, hot-dog style, and cut along the lines on the top flap. The prefixes are on the cover, the definition in on the left inside flap, and an example word is on the right inside flap with plenty of room for students to add a few of their own examples. I also have students draw a picture of the prefix meaning and then of the meaning of one of their example words on each inside flap.
Students can use the foldable as a study guide after completing the activity. Even students who do not do the activity can use it as a study guide since the definition and one example are provided. (No excuses from absent students!)
