This product contains 40 weeks’ worth of centers for your students to complete across an entire school year to teach prefixes and suffixes! Each week contains a different prefix or suffix with a definition card, two sample word cards with definitions, and a sentence card with two sentences for students to practice defining words with affixes using context clues. I've included 4 different title pages for you to use on your bulletin board or as a cover page for student booklets. I've also included 3 different recording pages for students to complete. You can print these individually each week, or if you prefer, print the pages into a packet for students to use for the entire year!
To use this product simply print the various cards, laminate for wear if you wish, and hang them up on a bulletin board. It’s that easy! I would recommend hanging the cards with sticky clips so you can change the cards easily each week.
Students can complete this activity at a weekly center for a student centered learning experience. You could also complete this in a small group setting with you as the facilitator or as a whole group activity. These activities will allow your students practice and apply knowledge of prefixes and suffixes and how they affect a base word, practice using reference materials such as dictionaries and thesauruses, use context clues to determine word meanings, and other important ELA skills. I hope you and your students enjoy this product and find it beneficial in your classroom.
