I made these mini cat in the hat themed hats for students to draw out of a hat. The children will read their words out loud and figure out the corresponding prefix. For example: I drew out the word read, and its corresponding prefix is reread! Reread means read again. I actually bought a hat from cat in the hat and allowed students to shake the hat and draw out these mini hat words and write down the correct prefix on a hat (print out glued on construction paper).
You will print off two sets of hats and allow students to color and paste their hats on construction paper. Once the students glue their hats, they will then write down the prefix –un and –re on the bottom of each hat. After that, students will then start shaking the Dr. Seuss hat and will be allowed to draw out a mini hat and write down the word on the correct prefix hat (on the construction paper).
Also includes a challenge.
(Hat can be printed from google and the preview only shows the hats it doesn't show the actual words in each hat)
