Product Description
Prefixes PowerPoint: Are you looking for an introduction Power Point for prefixes? Or perhaps a Power Point to begin your prefix unit with upper elementary students? If so, this highly interactive Power Point may be exactly what you are looking for! It is fully animated as well. Answers do not appear on the screen until the teacher clicks the mouse. It even includes a PowerPoint companion handout so that students can write on the handout, recording their answers, as you progress through the PowerPoint!

I choose to begin with these five prefixes because they account for 53% of all English prefixed words, according to Word Frequency Book (Carroll, Davies, Richman, 1971).

The 40 page powerpoint includes:
1 title slide

7 slides that introduce the terms "affix", "prefix", and "suffix"
-- includes an explanation of why the root word is "fix and how it's related to the meaning of the words!!
-- includes a mnemonic device for remembering that a prefix comes at the beginning and the suffix comes at the end!!

7 slides that introduce un- words and the meanings of un-

4 slides that introduce dis- words and the meanings of dis-

3 slides that introduce re- words and the meaning of re-

3 slides that introduce pre- words and the meaning of pre-

3 slides that introduce mis- words and the meaning of mis-

15 practice slides
-A sentence is provided
-Students write the word with a prefix from the sentence and the meaning of the prefix on the PowerPoint companion handout.

Check out the preview! (But remember, the preview is in a PDF format, and the product is truly an interactive PowerPoint with full animation.)
