To play this engaging kinesthetic prefix/suffix game, simply print one copy of the word doc, have students crumble the pages into 'snowballs', then toss them over an imaginary volleyball net, stop, pick up a snowball, then find the person with the matching 'snowball' on the other side of the 'net'!
For example: if your snowball has 'Depart' you want to find someone else who has 'ed' so you can complete the word 'Departed' together.
This EDITABLE version is already set up for suffixes '-ed, -ly, -ing, -less, -ful' and the prefix 'un-'. To change prefixes or suffixes, simply edit the word doc for whichever ones you'd like to use!
Play usually lasts about 20 minutes.
You can have students stop and arrange themselves in some way like 4 corners, etc. for comprehension (# of syllables, certain suffixes, etc.) and as a side note you can either print all the pages and let students find matches or just print enough words and endings so that every word has 1 match that way students don't have to scramble too much!
