Prehistory, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt Virtual Backgrounds Bundle

These virtual classroom backgrounds for Zoom™, Google Meet™, other digital platforms that use a 16:9 aspect ratio are a great way to keep your students interested when you’re teaching units about Prehistory, Mesopotamia, and Ancient Egypt. The backgrounds were created from maps, clipart images, photographs, and paintings. Most images have 3-6 versions; the difference is in the titles and subtitles used and location of the text on the backgrounds.

✓ Please note:

* This bundle consists of a zip file. In the bundle, each resource includes a) a PDF document with information about using these backgrounds and the jpeg images, and b) a folder with the backgrounds as individual jpegs. The backgrounds are provided both ways for your convenience.

★ What will students learn?

* Their interest in Prehistory will be activated by seeing images of a prehistoric landscape, cave paintings, Early Hominins, Neanderthals, and Cro-Magnon people.

* Maps of Mesopotamia and images of places and artifacts from Sumer, Babylonia, and Assyria, cuneiform and cylinder seals as well as important people in Mesopotamian history, will spark student’s interest in learning more about the Land Between Two Rivers.

* By viewing a map of Upper and Lower Egypt and pictures of the Nile, the Great Sphinx, and artifacts from Ancient Egyptian culture, students will be motivated when studying the civilization of Ancient Egypt.

★ Who is it for?

All students learning about Prehistory, Mesopotamia, and Ancient Egypt.

★ How does it help teachers?

* Backgrounds can be used on Zoom, Google Meet, and other platforms when teaching virtually or in in-person classes.

* With so many backgrounds provided, you can display a different background on each day you teach these units.

* Many backgrounds have prompts on them that can be used as warm-up tasks when students arrive in your classroom before you start the actual lesson or as quick formative assessments at the end of your lesson.

* You can use the backgrounds to generate discussion by asking students to analyze the images on the backgrounds.

The backgrounds include text that will help activate students' learning:

* You can use them as bell-ringers and have your students to write/type answers to them at the start of your lesson.

* You can use them as exit tickets and have students write/type responses at the end of your class period.

* Another way to use the backgrounds is to ask students to do a quick write, or work in pairs or small groups to describe and analyze the images on the backgrounds which they then share with the whole class.

A total of 45 Zoom backgrounds were created from 10 images. Each image has 3-6 versions.

A total of 125 backgrounds were created from 16 different images. Each background has 5 versions.

What you get in the Ancient Egypt Virtual Backgrounds resource (Grades 6 - 8):

A total of 165 backgrounds were created from 30 different images. Most backgrounds have 5 versions but the map background has 7 versions. There are also 12 backgrounds that display 1 Ancient Egyptian god or goddess and there is only 1 version for each of those backgrounds.
