This PowerPoint educates students about essential baby gear, nonessential baby gear, and best of all - how to SAVE $$$ when stocking up on all this expensive stuff.
This is a GREAT PowerPoint to use if you teach a lot of pregnant or parenting teens or young adults. It is filled with pictures, information, and practical advice!
Some of the topics covered include:
- "Typical" baby gear purchases
- Where to buy baby items to save money**
- Necessary baby items
- Car seat expiration dates
- Sleeping arrangement safety, including cribs and bedsharing
- Cloth vs. disposable diapers
- Feeding baby
- Optional baby items
- Comparison Shopping Assignment instructions
**NOTE: The specific stores listed on the Thrift Stores and Baby-Specific Resale Shops pages are local to me. You will either need to edit these pages to reflect your location, or delete the specific location information.
This is a long lesson. I taught it in two 90-minute block periods. Depending on the length of your class periods, you may choose to divide this lesson over 2-3 days.
In addition to this PowerPoint, you may want to download the "How to Prepare for Your Baby Comprehension Questions" from my store. It includes 23 questions that cover a range of topics from this Power Point.
Another great addition to this PowerPoint is my "Evaluating Safety of Car Seats and Sleeping Arrangements" worksheet, also available in my store. In it, students will need to calculate the expiration dates of several car seats and evaluate the safety of six sleeping arrangement scenarios.
