Here is a mini-unit for prepositional phrases which combines three of my products into one bundle. This zip file includes an introductory Simon Says game, guided practice trashketball game (power point), independent practice worksheet, and bonus bookmarks.
Part one of the worksheet directs students to underline the prepositional phrases in each of the twenty sentences and circle the prepositions. In part two, students write their own sentences using prepositions. Since the sentences provide information about the Humane Society, students also learn about the many ways the Humane Society advocates for animals. A key is provided.
In the trashketball game, there are three rounds. In each round, students identify prepositional phrases in the context of a sentence; the sentences increase in difficulty and complexity with the addition of compound objects, additional modifiers, and other types of phrases.
Furthermore, I've included bookmarks for students to use when they are reading. As students read class novels, they record prepositional phrases from the context of their reading. These bookmarks reinforce their understanding of prepositions.
