This is a two-day per week curriculum with 4 weeks worth of content. Each of the lessons are aligned to pre-kindergarten readiness standards designated by the Common Core [detailed lesson plans included]. The philosophy behind this curriculum is heavily literacy based, but also incorporates mathematical concepts through active engagement, play, and exploration. The weekly themes for the Identity month are as follows:
Who Am I?
Letters in My Name
This curriculum has been designed for both parents to use at home with their children, as well as daycare facilities and preschools to use with large groups of children. Suggested daily center rotations are included, and highly recommended for instructors of large groups. Small groups can be pulled to complete activities while children rotate through centers.
Each day begins with a calendar routine consisting of a thematic song, a Letter of the Week, Day of the Week, and a math concept. There is also a daily read-aloud that has a built-in corresponding craft or activity to complete with the children. The activities include both fine motor and gross motor development, both of which are essential at this age.
Thematic sensory play, dramatic play, as well as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) activities have also been incorporated into the lessons strategically. Each of these activities are clearly outlined at the beginning of the month, to aid in prepping efficiently ahead of time.
Lastly, but certainly not least, there are daily biblical truths that align with the theme of identity. Our truth for this month is “I am Made in God’s Image” and the scripture memory verse is I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14
There is a complete year of Preschool Curriculum available from this series with the months as follows:
