My students journal every Monday with this page. I keep these journal pages for assessment purposes through the years they are with me. Through journaling, I can assess fine motor, writing, and cognitive expression progression and identify developmental leaps. For instance, when children go from scribbling to making circles or lines, or the first time a child makes a recognizable figure or adds number or letter symbols to their drawings. I have charts that I compare these drawings to to determine if development is in-line, regressed or advanced for the child's age.
