This is a Parent Handout Unit for speech language pathologists (it's 1 of the 3 topics in the Preschool Parent Handout Bundle) to encourage carryover of the concepts focused on in a session. This topic Conversation, provides information and activities on how to promote conversation skills at home for the preschool aged child.
The topic is broken up into these pages:
LEARN PAGE: A one-page topic overview which describes the focus for the month.
PRETEND PAGE: describes various activities to do with the suggested toy to help promote the skill presented on the learn page.
CREATE PAGE: includes suggestions for expanding language, and imagination through the use of miscellaneous household items. The goal of the create page is to get parents and caregivers to recognize that conversation and language learning opportunities are literally everywhere and don’t require toys or equipment. This page is not specifically directed to the topic.
PONDER PAGE: involves a question or task for the caregiver to complete to further bridge their understanding of the skill and generalize it to other activities and tasks throughout his/her day.
