This is a fun activity that focuses on magnets. Place the six plastic eggs, a strong magnet, the recording sheet, and the sorting mats in front of the children. Begin by telling the children that they are going to see which eggs they can pick up with a magnet. Place the magnet on an egg. Can you pick it up? If yes, place it on the nest with the happy face. If not, place the egg on the the nest with the sad face. Then, color the numbered eggs on the recording sheet that you were able to pick up. Then, open up each egg to see what is inside. Explain how magnets attract things made of iron, nickel and some metals and how they stick together.
