This is such a fun addition to any classroom's Thanksgiving theme! Students generate their own page of the classroom book. They must use their creativity to help "hide" the turkey and make him into something else so he is not eaten on Thanksgiving. From a super hero to a princess, it is so much fun to watch the children's creativity grow as they create disguises for the turkey!
This book is a great extension activity after you have read Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano.
This page can be used to create a classroom book. However, there are many other uses. Students can generate it on an Ipad and you can use your smart board to show all the book pages! It can be a quiet center activity. It can also be a creative writing activity that the students take home at the end of the day. No matter how you use it, it is guaranteed to have teachers, parents, and most importantly, students, smiling and enjoying writing!
The main words on each page are:
I'm not a turkey, as you can plainly see.
On Thanksgiving Day, you won't eat me.
I'm not a turkey. I'm a ___________.
