This flipbook was designed to be used with preschool students who have no or limited expressive vocabulary. The vocabulary items in this book were chosen based on what I have found to be fairly common preschool vocabulary. I have found that this format (flipbook) has been motivating for students...they enjoy flipping the pages on their own. There are 30 basic vocabulary pictures in this packet. For students who have very minimal expressive vocabulary, this is a good place to start.
This flipbook can be used in a variety of ways:
1. naming vocabulary items
2. Memory practice: start with showing the child one picture, then covering the picture and ask the child to remember the picture. Then add 2 pictures, name them, cover them, then ask the child to name them while they are covered. Gradually increase the number of pictures that you are asking the child to remember.
3. receptive vocabulary practice
4. receptively identifying objects by description (attribute or function)
